Meet Virginia (Gigi) Alcalde:
Virginia (Gigi) Alcalde is a Hispanic/Latinx registered dietitian and mental health counselor practicing in Washington State. Gigi’s education and training include earning a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics and Nutrition from Florida International University and completing a dietetic internship at Bastyr University where she also earned a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. In addition, Gigi has studied and completed various teacher trainings in mindfulness, yoga, and meditation and have taught these disciplines in private and public settings. Gigi has worked in the eating disorder field since 2018 supporting adolescents and adults with medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling, as well as facilitating group therapy and mindful movement groups.
Gigi is guided by the philosophy that we all embody the innate potential for healing which can be tapped into given the necessary support. Her mission is to provide person-centered, compassionate, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and weight inclusive care to her clients as she supports them with their nutrition and mental health goals and healing their relationship with self, food, and body. Gigi offers nutrition counseling and mental health therapy using evidence-based, integrative (mind-body), and mindfulness-based modalities. Gigi works with a wide range of conditions including eating disorders, disordered eating, anxiety, and depression. Gigi is bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish and works with adolescents and adults.
About Stronger Together
Stronger Together is a restorative, multigenerational community and teen positive program for people 12+. Once a month during the school year, we gather around topics of importance to our community, such as self care, positive mental outlooks, and healthy relationships, share information and resources and create a space for learning from one another.
