If you need to create a new Parenting Plan, or update an existing Parenting Plan The Dispute Resolution Center (DRC) of Grays Harbor & Pacific Counties is available to help.
How Parenting Plan Mediations Work
Call the DRC at 360-532-8950 let the staff know that you are interested in creating a parenting plan or updating your current parenting plan. The staff member will ask you a few questions, gather your contact information, let you know the fee schedule, and give you the information you need to proceed.
What to Bring to the Parenting Plan Mediation
New Parenting Plan: Please bring an open mind about what might work best for your child(ren) to the Mediation table; in other words, consider the best interest of your child(ren) above all other feelings. If you received a Parenting Plan packet with your divorce papers it will be helpful to look that over before the Mediation begins, so you will understand what you must work out with your child(ren's) other parent during the Mediation. After Mediation, you will need to work with the courts and/or your attorney to officially file your plan.
Update an Existing Parenting Plan: Again please bring an open mind-considering what is in the best interest of your child(ren) above all other issues. It might be helpful to bring your existing Parenting Plan to the mediation table. The DRC will provide a new Parenting Plan packet during the Mediation. You will be able to present the completed Parenting Plan to the court after it is filled out. After Mediation, you will need to work with the courts and/or your attorney to officially file your plan.
Fees for Parenting Plan Mediations
Fees are based on a sliding scale according to income; the DRC staff member will provide this information to you during your initial phone conversation.
Fees must be paid before the Mediation can be scheduled.
NOTE: A Parenting Plan Mediation and a Divorce/Dissolution Mediation take place in separate Mediation sessions.

How Divorce Mediation Works
Call the DRC at 360-532-8950 let the staff know that you are interested in a Mediation for your divorce. The staff member will ask you a few questions, gather your contact information, let you know the fee schedule, and give you the information you need to proceed.
What will Happen During the Divorce Mediation
Issues about division of property, in other words who gets what, are the main topics in Divorce Mediation. The DRC does not help fill out Divorce Papers; Divorce Mediation is for working through the issues and interests of the divorcing people.
What to Bring to a Divorce Mediation
Please bring your ideas about how property and other important issues should be settled; be ready to discuss these issues frankly with the other party. You are welcome to bring your divorce papers; however, you do not need to bring divorce papers to the mediation; filling out divorce papers will not be part of the Mediation process. If bringing them will help you remember what you would like to work through, then by all means bring them to the mediation table.
